Planned Retreats
Craft shops and Folklore centers are a pleasant diversion from strenuous outdoor
recreation. The Old Mill (304-227-4466) is adjacent to the Mountain Retreat. It is
a working water-powered grist mill that also markets quality crafts.
The Augusta Heritage Center operates out of Davis and Elkins College in Elkins. Each
summer they offer 5 weeks of workshops on traditional music, dance, crafts and folklore. In April
Augusta hosts a Spring Dulcimer Week, and each October a Fiddler's Reunion.
